The story behind the pattern
My inspiration comes when I least expect it. This time I talked to my mother on the phone. I picked up the yarn that was lying next to me and started crocheting, without really thinking about what I was doing, like doodling while talking on the phone.

Introduction
First you crochet the flower (round 1-7). Next step is to make the square around the flower (round 8-17).
The stitches in the pictures are the stitches I crocheted (not what they count as).

Alternatives
The pattern below can be adjusted, depending on your own preferences. For example:
- The initial ch on round 1 can be made with a magic ring.
- You can start each round with a standing stitch wherever possible, instead of ch.
- You can end each round with an invisible join wherever possible, instead of a sl st.

The flower (round 1-7)
1 Ch 4 (counts as ch 1, 1 dc), 11 dc in the first ch. Tighten the ring by pulling the short yarn thread.
Finish with 1 sl st in the first dc (the beginning chain). Do not cut the yarn. (Total 1 ch, 12 dc).
2 Continue with the same color. *1 sl st to next stitch, *«3 dc (ch 3, 2 dc in first repetition)», «2 dc»* 6 times. Finish with 1 sl st in the first dc (the beginning chain). Cut the yarn. (Total 30 dc)
3 Change color. Start the round in any dc. *1 sc (ch 1 in first repetition), ch 2, skip 1 dc, 1 FPdc around next dc, ch 2, skip 1 dc, 1 sc in next dc* 6 times. Finish with 1 sl st in first sc (the beginning chain). Cut the yarn. (Total 12 ch-2 sp, 12 sc, 6 FPdc)
4 Change color. Start the round in the first sc of two. *1 sc (ch 1 in first repetition), ch 3, 1 sc in next sc, ch 3, 1 dc3tog in ch-2 sp, ch 1, 1 FPdc around FPdc r.3, 1 dc3tog in ch-2 sp, ch 3* 6 times. Finish with 1 sl st in first sc (the beginning chain). Cut the yarn. (Total 18 ch-3 sp, 6 ch-1 sp, 12 sc, 6 FPdc, 12 dc3tog)
5 Change color. Start the round in ch-3 sp after 1 dc3tog. *1 sc (ch 1 in first repetition) in ch-3 sp, «1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc» in next ch-3 sp, 1 sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 2, skip 1 dc3tog, 1 BPsc around FPdc r.4, ch 2, skip 1 dc3tog* 6 times. Finish with 1 sl st in first sc (the beginning chain). Cut the yarn. (Total 12 ch-2 sp, 6 ch-1 sp, 12 sc, 6 BPsc, 12 dc)
6 Change color. Start the round in ch-2 sp before BPsc. *«1 sc (ch 1 in first repetition), 1 hdc, 1 dc» in ch-2 sp, 1 FPdc around BPsc r.5, «1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc» in ch-2 sp, 1 sc in sc, skip 1 dc, «1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc» in ch-1 sp, skip 1 dc, 1 sc in sc * 6 times. Finish with 1 sl st in first sc (the beginning chain). Cut the yarn. (Total 36 sc, 24 hdc, 18 dc, 6 FPdc)
7 Change color. Start the round in a FPdc, see photo 14 below.
*«1 sc (ch 1, in first repetition), ch 3, 1 sc» in FPdc, 3 sc BLO, 1 FPsc around sc r.5, skip 1 sc, 1 FPdc around dc r.5 (see photo 15 below), 2 sc BLO, «1 sc, ch 3, 1 sc» in dc, 2 sc BLO, 1 FPdc around dc r.5, skip 1 sc, 1 FPsc around sc r.5, 3 sc BLO* 6 times. Finish with 1 sl st in first sc (the beginning chain). Cut the yarn. (Total 12 ch-3 sp, 24 sc, 60 sc BLO, 12 FPsc, 12 FPdc)
The square (round 8-17)
8 Change color. Start the round in sc r.6 before FPdc r.7, (behind FPsc and FPdc r.7, see photo 18 and 19 below). *«1 dc (ch 3 in first repetition), ch 1, 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc» in sc r.6, ch 1, skip (1 FPdc, 2 sc BLO, 1 sc), 1 sc in ch-3 sp r.7, ch 1, skip (1 sc, 2 sc BLO, 1 FPdc), «1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc» in sc r.6, ch 1, skip (1 FPsc, 3 sc BLO, 1 sc), 1 sc in ch-3 sp r.7, ch 1, skip (1 sc, 3 sc BLO, 1 FPsc)* 6 times. Finish with 1 sl st in first dc (the beginning chain). Cut the yarn. (Total 48 ch-1 sp, 12 sc, 36 dc)
9 Change color. Start the round in ch-1 sp which comes after sl st on previous round,, *1 hdc (ch 2 in first repetition) in ch-1 sp, ch 1, skip 1 st* 48 times. Finish with 1 sl st in first hdc (the beginning chain). Do not cut the yarn. (Total 48 ch-1 sp, 48 hdc)
10 Continue with the same color. 1 sl st to ch-1 sp. *1 sc (ch 1 in first repetition) in ch-1 sp, ch 1, skip 1 hdc, **1 hdc in ch-1 sp, ch 1, skip 1 hdc** 2 times, «1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc» in ch-1 sp, ch 1, skip 1 hdc, «1 tr, ch 1, 1 tr» in ch-1 sp, ch 1, skip 1 hdc, «1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc» in ch-1 sp, **ch 1, skip 1 hdc, 1 hdc in ch-1 sp** 2 times, **ch 1, skip 1 hdc, 1 sc in ch-1 sp** 4 times ch 1, skip 1 hdc* 4 times. Finish with 1 sl st in first sc (the beginning chain). Cut the yarn. (Total 60 ch-1 sp, 20 sc, 16 hdc, 16 dc, 8 tr)
11 Change color. Start the round in ch-1 sp between 2 tr (the corner). *«1 sc (ch 1 in first repetition), ch 2, 1 sc» in ch-1 sp, **ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 sc in ch-1 sp** 14 times, ch 1* 4 times. Finish with 1 sl st in first sc (the beginning chain). Cut the yarn. (Totalt 60 ch-1 sp, 4 ch-2 sp, 64 sc)
12 Change color. Start the round in ch-2 sp (the corner). *«1 sc (ch 1 i first repetition), ch 2, 1 sc» in ch-2 sp, **ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 sc in ch-1 sp** 15 times, ch 1* 4 times. Finish with 1 sl st in first sc (the beginning chain). Cut the yarn. (Total 64 ch-1 sp, 4 ch-2 sp, 68 sc)
13 Change color. Start the round in ch-2 sp (the corner). *«1 sc (ch 1 in first repetition), ch 2, 1 sc» in ch-2 sp, **ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 sc in ch-1 sp** 16 times, ch 1* 4 times. Finish with 1 sl st in first sc (the beginning chain). Cut the yarn. (Total 68 ch-1 sp, 4 ch-2 sp, 72 sc)
14 Change color. Start the round in ch-2 sp (the corner). *«1 sc (ch 1 in first repetition), ch 2, 1 sc» in ch-2 sp, **ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 sc in ch-1 sp** 17 times, ch 1* 4 times. Finish with 1 sl st in first sc (the beginning chain). Do not cut the yarn.(Total 72 ch-1 sp, 4 ch-2 sp, 76 sc)
15 Continue with the same color. 1 sl st to ch-2 sp, *«1 sc (ch 1 in first repetition), ch 2, 1 sc» in ch-2 sp, **ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 sc in ch-1 sp** 18 times, ch 1* 4 times. Finish with 1 sl st in first sc (the beginning chain). Do not cut the yarn. (Total 76 ch-1 sp, 4 ch-2 sp, 80 sc)
16 Continue with the same color. 1 sl st to ch-2 sp, *«1 hdc (ch 2 in first repetition ), ch 2, 1 hdc» in ch-2 sp, **ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 hdc in ch-1 sp** 19 times, ch* 4 times. Finish with 1 sl st in first hdc (the beginning chain). Do not cut the yarn.(Total 80 ch-1 sp, 4 ch-2 sp, 84 hdc)
17 Continue with the same color. 1 sl st to ch-2 sp, *«1 sc (ch 1 in first repetition), ch 2, 1 sc» in ch-2 sp, **skip 1st, 2 sc in ch-1 sp** 20 times, skip 1 st* 4 times. Finish with 1 sl st in first sc (the beginning chain). Cut the yarn. (Total 4 ch-2 sp, 168 sc)
