Alternatives

The pattern below can be adjusted, depending on your own preferences. For example:

  • The initial ch on round 1 can be made with a magic ring. 
  • You can start each round with standing stitches wherever possible, instead of ch.
  • You can end rounds with either an invisible join (as shown in the pictures below) or with a sl st . 
  • I prefer to weave in the ends after each round, for best result. You can choose to do that after finishing all rounds as well.

1 ch 4 (= ch 1, 1 dc), 11 dc in the first ch. Tighten the ring by pulling the short yarn thread. Finish with an invisible join. (Total 1 ch, 12 dc).

Round 1: ch 4, 11 dc in first ch of 4

Stitch through the first dc
Invisible join step 2:
Stitch the back loop of last dc
Round 1 done

2 Change color, *1 sc (= ch 1 in first repetition), ch 1* 12 times. Finish with an invisible join. (Total 12 ch, 12 sc).

Round 2: Total 13 ch, 11 sc
Invisible join step 1:
Stitch through the first ch-1 sp
Invisible join step 2:
Stitch through the last ch
Round 2 done

3  Change color, *1 sc (= ch 1 in first repetition)  in ch-1 sp, ch 2* 12 times, Skip the first ch and finish with 1 sl st in the first ch-2 sp. (Total 1 sl st, 24 ch, 12 sc).

Round 3: Total 13 ch, 11 sc
Finish with a sl st in ch-2 sp

4 *«1 hdc (= ch 2 in first repetition), 1 dc, 1 hdc» in ch-2 sp, 1 sc through the sc from round 3* 12 times. Finish with an invisible join. (Total 12 sc, 24 hdc, 12 dc).

Roud 4: Total 2 ch, 12 sc, 23 hdc, 12 dc
Invisible join step 1:
Stitch through the first ch
Stitch through the back loop of the last sc

5 Change color. This round is crocheted in BLO. *1 sc (= ch 1 in first repetition) in first hdc after a sc, «1 sc, ch 3, 1 sc» in dc, 1 sc in hdc, 1 FPdc around sc from round 3* 12 times. Finish with an invisible join. (Total 36 ch, 48 sc BLO, 12 FPdc).

Round 5: Total 37 ch, 47 sc BLO, 12 FPdc

Loop

This part is used to hang the flower, for example as decoration in a Christmas tree.

1 ch 1 in white st on the back of the flower, *ch 1* 27 times, 1 sl st in white st next to the first st.  Attach the loose yarn ends. (Total 1 sl st, 28 ch).
