The Micmarmik square first starts as a circle, then becomes a hexagon, and finally a square (rectangle). 
 

 

1 Ch 8, 1 sl st in to the first ch, to form a ring. Ch 1 (counts as 1 sc), 17 sc into the ring. End the round with 1 sl st in the first ch. (Total 1 ch, 17 sc, 1 sl st)

2 Ch 3 (counts as 1 sc + ch 2), *1 sc in the next st, ch 2* 17 times. End the round with 1 sl st in the first ch. (Total  36 ch,  17 sc, 1 sl st).

3 Change color. *1 sc in any ch-2 sp, ch 2* 18 times. End the round with 1 sl st in the first sc. (Total 36 ch, 18 sc, 1sl st).

4 Crochet 1 sl st until the ch-2 space, make ch 5 (counts as 1 dc + ch 2), *1 dc into next ch-2 space, ch 2* 17 times. End the round with 1 sl st in the third ch in the first dc. (Total 39 ch, 17 dc, 1 sl st).

5 Change color. Start in any ch-2 sp, «ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 2 dc» in the next ch-2 sp, ch 1. *3 dc in the next ch-2 sp, ch 1* 17 times. End the round with 1 sl st in the third ch in the first dc. (Total 2 ch, 53 dc, 1 sl st)

6 Change color. 1 sc in each dc and ch -1 sp. End the round with 1 sl st in the first sc. (Total 72 sc, 1 sl st).

7 Change color. *1 sc in any ch-1 sp on round 5, ch 3, 1 sc in the ch-1 sp on round 5, ch 3, 1 sc in the ch-1 sp on round 5, ch 5* 6 times. End the round with 1 sl st in the first ch. (Total 66 ch, 18 sc).

8 Crochet 1 sl st until the ch-3 sp, «Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 2 dc» into the next ch-3 space, ch 1, 3 dc into the next ch-3 sp, ch 1, «3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc» into the next ch-5 sp, ch 1, *3 dc into the next ch-3 space, ch 1, 3 dc into the next ch-3 space, ch 1  «3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc» into the next ch-5 sp, ch 1* 5 times. End the round with 1 sl st in the third ch in the first dc. (Total 33 ch, 71 dc, 1 sl st).

9 Change color. *1 sc in any ch-2 sp, ch 3,

10-12 3 tr in the next ch-1 sp, ch 3,

13 «2 dtr, ch 3,

14 2 dtr» in next ch-1 sp, ch 3, 3 tr in the next ch-1 sp, ch 3, 1 dc in the next ch-2 sp,

15 ch 3, 3 tr in the next ch-1 sp, ch 3, «2 dtr, ch 3, 2 dtr» in the next ch-1 sp, ch 3, 3 tr in the next ch-1 sp, ch 3, 1 sc in the next ch-2 sp,

16 **1 sc in the following 3 dc, 1 sc in the next ch-1 sp** 3 times, 1 sc in the following 3 dc* Repeat nr 9-16 one more time. End the round with 1 sl st in the first sc. (Total 32 sc, 60 ch, 2 dc, 24 tr, 16 dtr, 1 sl st)

17 Change color ch 3 (=1 dc), 2 dc» in the next ch-3 sp, ch 3, 3 dc in the next ch-3 sp, ch 2, «3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc» in the next ch-3 sp (corner), ch 2, 3 dc in the next ch-3 sp, ch 3, 3 dc in the next ch-3 sp, ch 1, 3 dc in the next ch-3 sp, ch 3, 3 dc in the next ch-3 sp, ch 2, «3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc» in the next ch-3 sp (corner), ch 2, 3 dc in the next ch-3 sp, ch 3, 3 dc in the next ch-3 sp, **ch 3, 1 dc in the ch-1 sp in round 8** 3 times, ch 3* 2 times. For the second repeat, replace the first ch3 with 1 dc in the beginning. End the round with 1 sl st in the third ch on the first dc. (Total 77 dc, 81 ch, 1 sl st)
